In the interest of keeping it short and sweet, Ms. Amandi announced today on Bombshell-ter Radio her top 13 Best Albums of 2013. Now we all know that there are more then 13 Best Albums of 2013 and all of them would most likely go on a Best Albums of 2013 "Master List" but for our purposes here, we distilled it to an essential 13. Not to mention, a short and sweet list of 13 is just enough to wrap your head around and a perfect place to start. Mini albums ie. EPs* are included. This year, these are the albums that made her go - boom :

Bonobo - The North Borders
Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest

The Hongs - Delicate Tremors

It's interesting because just in the past week, I've been reading up and listening to the works of Ernest Holmes, an American spiritual writer regarding modern metaphysics and the author of The Science of Mind. Then today I remembered that Ernest Greene, better known by his stage name Washed Out and practically the posterartist for the chillwave genre, is performing tonight at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. He's touring his second studio album Paracosm which I'll be featuring on Bombshell-ter Radio tomorrow lest you miss his live show tonight. One thing is for certain - when you are tuned in you feel it all around and it feels alright. Doors open at 8PM.
Although the official release is set for late November, we have the exclusive video premiere for Second Sky's newest single "Purpose" a science-fiction diddy of ethereal proportions about sheer lifeforce and love. Hence these key lyrics "This time we're making a plan. We'll signal ahead to make it easy to surrender." How choice is that? Directed by Meteor Tower because Meteor makes pretty. "Purpose" is the first single off of Second Sky's upcoming album later this fall and since timing is everything, this called for a special midnight release on All Souls Day.
Presenting his new alter ego Quentin Quatro! Enjoy these 70+ minutes of funky, jacking deep house and nu-disco and a bonus special sneak peek of the next QQ single "Quatrophonic" at the end of the mix, coming soon from Insect Queen Music! We already feel better this fall.

Sigur Rós is extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world. In one word :
ethereal. You may recognize their melodies from Cameron Crowe's 2001 bella tragedia Vanilla Sky and we have music supervisor Danny Bramson to thank for that. The Icelandic band performs this Saturday, September 28 in Asheville, NC at the US Cellular Center.
Ben's Tune Up has invited AFM djs to come spin records for the BBQ Burnout Brunch featuring the Asheville Vinyl Leage (AVL), and is a record spinners collective. Bombshell-ter Radio's Ms. Amandi will be spinning the likes of Little Dragon, Gotan Project, Tipsy, Wax Tailor and Massive Attack. Plenty of snow cones, finger-lickin' food and AshevilleFM DJs to keep you groovin'. Remember to bring the fam! Noon-5PM
Broadcasting online since September, 2009, Asheville Free Media is celebrating their four-year anniversary with a Four-Year Freakshow on this September’s Friday the 13th. Representing community voices in both music and talk programming, AshevilleFM.org features forty, locally-produced, weekly programs with a global reach. Listeners from all over the country, and the world, tune in to AshevilleFM.org every day to experience the culture that is uniquely Asheville.
With such great support from a world of listeners, Asheville Free Media has made the decision to take the next bold step: we’re going on air! We are applying for an LPFM broadcast license this fall. If we’re successful in our efforts, we will begin broadcasting from high atop an Asheville tower, making our signal easily accessible so we can better serve the local population, bringing the local economy of ideas to the forefront of the airwaves in Asheville!
With four successful years behind us, and a future of broadcasting excellence ahead, what better time for a party? Friday, September 13th will be an evening of family fun at the Odditorium from 5-8pm. Fun activities include a Cakewalk, Record Toss, Palm Reading, Photo Booth and more! Asheville Free Media’s Four-Year Freakshow will include a cover song contest with prizes for Best in Costume, Best in Song, and Best in Show. The winner of the Best in Show contest will be awarded a spot on the AshevilleFM.org Stage at Big Love on Sunday, September 15th.
This will be a great opportunity to meet the volunteers at Asheville Free Media, and to visit with your favorite AFM program hosts when they’re not busy in the studio! We will present a new crop of AFM t-shirts for sale, including a brand-new, limited edition LPFM Application shirt. Asheville Free Media’s Four-Year Freakshow will be a great way to support community radio in Asheville and have some fun while meeting a very unique group of fun neighbors. C’mon down to The Odditorium, in West Asheville, on Friday the 13th, and bring your ghoulfriend for a good time!
